I had forgotten about nuclear weapons from the 1990s up until now … and then just recently with the Russia-Ukraine crisis we are reminded about how nuclear weapons still exist and how nuclear powers could (heaven forbid) use them. The reality is that in the space of about 20 minutes (from execution of launch) an entire country (and much of the life within) could potentially be wiped from the face of the planet. Not great really; grim as – for everybody involved. I suspect most views are that nuclear weapons should only ever be used for the protection of humanity and planetary defence purposes only. This leads me to the next thought …
Protective Countermeasures
I think the world nations needs to shift their focus from attack to defence and neuralisation of weaponised technology that results in mass destruction. This should be made freely available to all humanity. Imagine if nuclear weapons were rendered ineffective on a global scale for example – could there be a new age of human co-operation, or would it spur a new arms race?
